Tencent Charity Foundation today announced a donation totaling HK$30 million (US$3.6 million) to aid emergency relief efforts following the level-five fire that broke out the previous night at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong.

The donation will be used to support affected residents through temporary resettlement, provision of daily necessities, and psychological assistance.

On the morning after the accident, Tencent Charity Foundation pledged an initial donation of HK$10 million. In response to the Hong Kong SAR Government’s establishment of the Tai Po Wang Fuk Court Relief Fund, the foundation has since committed an additional HK$20 million to the Relief Fund. This brings Tencent’s total contribution to HK$30 million in support of relief and recovery efforts for the community.

Tencent expressed its deepest respect for the firefighters, ambulance personnel, and relief organizations that responded swiftly to the disaster, honoring their professionalism and courage in safeguarding lives.

Tencent said it will continue to monitor the relief and recovery process, maintain close cooperation with community partners, and respond to emerging needs as the situation develops.

Meanwhile, WeChat Pay HK has launched fast transfer portal to the HKSAR's Tai Po Wang Fuk Court Relief Fund, and dedicated emergency relief donation campaigns under the “Charity” page, allowing users to easily donate to charitable organizations with just a few clicks. No administrative or handling fees will be charged, and the full amount of donations will go directly to the designated charities.
