Shantou Party Secretary Li Feng meets Charles Chen, Tencent CAO

On June 30 Shantou Party Secretary Li Feng and Mayor Zheng Renhao met with a delegation led by Tencent CAO Charles Chen in the Shantou Party Committee Meeting Center. The two sides held friendly exchanges.

Li Feng briefly introduced Shantou’s social and economic development to the guests. Shantou as a central city in Eastern Guangdong and a Top 50 IT city in China is home to “Shantou International Sea Cable Landing Station” one of the only 3 international network communication ports in China enjoying a solid foundation for the Internet and E-commerce industries. In the future the Shantou government will attract more rising enterprises such as high-end service and information enterprises to boost local development.

Charles Chen expressed thanks to the assistance which Li Feng gave to Tencent during his term of office in Shenzhen and introduced Tencent’s latest development. Thanks to the care and support from governments at all levels Tencent has persistently maintained a robust growth momentum. Its businesses now cover the 4 major fields of interactive entertainment network media social networking and E-commerce. Currently more than 20000 government institutions and social servants have registered with and now use Tencent Weibo making it an important channel to gather and reflect public opinions.

Upon knowing that Shantou is actively pushing forward efforts to build itself into a national E-commerce pilot city in China Charles Chen said that Shantou has greeted a historical opportunity and Tencent will continue to closely follow up Shantou’s economic development and strengthen communication exchanges and cooperation with the Shantou party committee and government.

After the talks Charles Chen presented on behalf of Tencent employees a small QQ robot to Secretary Li Feng and the host and the guest took a group photo.
