Tencent Collaborates with National Research Center for Information Technology Security and Hualong Xunda to Launch an Industrial Internet Platform - Tencent Jupiter Cloud

2018.05.26

May, 2018 – With the theme of “Forward to the Future: Creating Values through Digitization,” the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2018 was officially opened in Guiyang, China. During the “Nationwide Activity for Integration of Informatization and Industrialization – GuiZhou Edition” on May 27th, guests were invited to discuss ways to facilitate the development of the Internet, big data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and extensive integration of digitization and economies. The discussion also emphasized the use of industrial, web-based platforms to develop new programs and accelerate the digital transformation of various enterprises.

At the event, Libo Yin, the Director of National Research Center for Information Technology Security, Yuefeng Xie, Vice President of Tencent Cloud, and Lihua Hu, Chairman of Shenzhen Hualong Xunda jointly launched the “Industrial Internet Platform – Tencent Jupiter Cloud.” Deputy Director of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in GuiZhou Province, academics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology Hong Mei, as well as the Deputy Minister of the Informatization and Software Service Ministry in the Industrial and Informatization Department Guanyu Li were some of the guests in attendance to celebrate the announcement of the platform.

Tencent is a pioneer in the industrial Internet field. The company has paved the way for the development of cloud computing, big data and AI categories and enjoyed advantages over their counterparts. Partnering with various organizations, Tencent Cloud offers cloud computing, big data, and AI services to industrial enterprises. It also provides a variety of digitalizing applications – from the manufacturing process to client relationship management – for companies in the conventional manufacturing industry, allowing them to increase the operation efficiency.

The launch of Tencent Jupiter Cloud is a major milestone in Tencent’s journey to assist different companies in achieving industrial intelligence transformation in the field of industrial Internet. At the Informatization and Industrialization Summit last year, National Research Center for Information Technology Security, Tencent and Hualong Xunda signed a strategic collaboration agreement to work hand in hand to design Industrial IoT products. During this year’s Digital Expo, “Industrial Internet Platform – Tencent Jupiter Cloud” was released and promoted by the three parties. Given the rising demand for the digital transformation for industrial enterprises, Hualong Xunda joined forces with Tencent Cloud to connect edge computing with industrial PaaS. The partnership also facilitates the real-time uploading process of operation data from different appliances to the cloud platform. Moreover, the National Industrial Information Center partners with Tencent to advance the platform’s performance standards, fortify its security and promote its industry-wide application. With the help of Enterprise WeChat and Tencent’s Mini Program, companies are equipped with real-time reporting of their manufacturing process, allowing them to track the status of production online. The Mini-Program also offers a statistical overview of the manufacturing process, which can be used by management when making operational decisions. The Mini-Program will ultimately be able to monitor the whole production chain by connecting the edge-computing programs to industrial PaaS and other related applications.

The Four Major Features of Tencent Jupiter Cloud in Facilitating the Digitization of Industrial Enterprises

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China presented the strategic plan for “Promoting the In-Depth Integration of the Internet, Big Data, AI, and Economy.” In response to the plan, various industries are actively driving their digital transformation. As a significant part of the national economy, industrial enterprises are highly engaged in the digitization process to build a modernized industrial Internet. However, industrial Internet development is a long-term process, which requires the integration of both information and operational technologies. The process also involves creating various platforms for different steps across production and services. Enterprises are likely to face challenges regarding techniques, applications, ecosystem and security.

In terms of techniques, the tech stack (a combination of software and programming languages used to create an application) of industrial web-based system is incredibly complex. Enterprise will need to pool together their respective programs and software.

In terms of application, enterprises will face obstacles in transforming the industrial application and software into services (SaaS).

In terms of ecosystem, a single platform is not applicable to all industries. The challenges lie in connecting a broad spectrum of industries.

In terms of security, enterprises will have to come up with reliable ways to safeguard sensitive information.

Regarding the challenges faced in the development of the industrial Internet and the prominent demand from industrial digitization, the National Research Center for Information Technology Security, Tencent, and Hualong Xunda partnered to launch Tencent Jupiter Cloud. This cloud computing system is created based on the world-leading platform structure of Tencent Cloud and the autonomous CPS-based digital building techniques of Hualong Xunda. This combines with the open system of Enterprise WeChat to create an interlinked data-collecting system for web users and developers. It also offers complex mechanical models and smart industrial solutions, enabling the ambient intelligence, collective cloud computing, effective analysis and technological decision-making processes, applicable in the management of machines, materials, systems, products and human resources. The management of production elements, procedures, and product lifecycle will be substantially improved. Ultimately, Tencent Jupiter Cloud will offer support via their open platforms to increase the quantity, efficiency, effectiveness and innovation capability of industrial productions.

Compared to other existing industrial Internet platforms in China, Tencent Jupiter Cloud has the following four advantages. First, the cloud platform is supported by its independent R&D and IT service capabilities. Tencent also owns its core technology. Second, it can package technical knowledge and deploy modules across industries and fields. It represents a comprehensive data-driven and software-based solution - an autonomous system with the ambient connection, virtual projection and structure building capabilities, merging information and operational technologies. Third, it builds an open sharing platform with a user-friendly interface. This helps enterprises in “uploading” their production process to the cloud platforms, inspiring innovation and boosting efficiency. Lastly, it enhances the security of the information systems.
