Tencent Becomes Strategic Partner of APEC 2026

Tencent has been named a strategic partner of the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen. Tencent will provide AI and digital services to make everyday tasks easier for delegates, journalists and visitors.

Tencent is making it as convenient as possible for visitors to the city. They can pay for goods or services wherever they see the “Weixin Pay” logo with their preferred method, including international bank cards linked to WeChat and more than 60 overseas e-wallets supported by TenPay Global. They can also use TenPayGo, a dedicated payment app for short-term international visitors, to access payment and travel services during their stay.

Visitors can access a wide range of services, including transportation, dining, healthcare, local attractions and other everyday essentials through “Explore China,” a multilingual portal accessible via Weixin Mini Programs on WeChat. Information on helpful services for navigating the city has been set up at Shenzhen airport, border crossings and hotels providing easy access.

As one of the key technology service providers supporting the meeting’s news center, Tencent is working with Shenzhen Media Group to support media operations and global coverage. The collaboration combines Tencent’s expertise in cloud computing, intelligent processing, streaming distribution and portal development with Shenzhen Media Group’s experience in media operations, news production and multilingual communications for major events.

Together, they are developing MediaBuddy, an AI-powered platform built on Tencent’s WorkBuddy Enterprise Edition. MediaBuddy supports official information releases, content production, and broadcast feed aggregation and distribution, while providing intelligent office services to accredited journalists from around the world. Through a single conversational interface, journalists can use natural language to access official materials and manage the reporting workflow, from story planning and drafting to video editing and multilingual content delivery.

Tencent’s AI-powered Hy Translate app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, supports 33 languages and will assist volunteers and frontline staff in communicating with international visitors, whether they’re asking for directions, checking into a hotel or seeking assistance at an event venue.

Founded in Shenzhen, Tencent has been part of the city’s growth for more than two decades. As the city prepares to welcome international guests for APEC 2026, the company is helping make their experience of the city a little easier and more convenient.
