The Ukie Video Games Growth Programme, in partnership with Tencent and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), champions innovation and supports the next generation of video game startups and scaleups across the UK.

The programme attracted over 50 applicants, with 27 selected: 15 for the three-month accelerator and 12 for the six-month scaleup. The judges sought studios pushing boundaries, rethinking formats and redefining gaming genres.

Four of the scaleups pitched their ideas to an expert panel.

Jay Shin, Director, Arrogant Pixel

A self-taught designer, Jay defies the traditional game developer profile and is driven to create the next global strategy game franchise with her RTS video game, Terratorial, designed for modern console audiences.

James Bradley, Managing Director, Rocket Flair Studios

James is transforming his construction expertise into immersive city building video games that bring history to life—captivating players and inspiring communities.

Kostas Zarifis, Creative Director, Rogue Sun

Kostas is the visionary behind Tin Hearts Uprising, an action-adventure game that seamlessly blends immersive storytelling with engaging gameplay. Featuring tin soldiers, robots and Gertrude the Explorer— inspired by 19th-century British adventurer Gertrude Bell and reminiscent of Lara Croft—this game brings its rich narrative to life through creative mechanics.

Rob Hewson, CEO, Huey Games

Rob has built a successful service company, collaborating on major titles. Now, he’s making a bold move—creating original video game IP. It’s a high-risk, high-reward journey, but his vision is clear: within the next 10 years, he aims to lead a team renowned for building systemic games.
